This Cork based artist is inspired by rituals and stories. Collected imagery and cherished fabrics are layered and appliqued together to create a glimpse into aspects of everyday life. Hand and machine stitch make lively marks on cloth collaged surfaces. The work is evocative of the 1950s, as much of the inspiration from books and fabrics were passed down from the artist's grandmother.

Jenny Monks graduated with a BA honors Degree in Textile Design from NCAD, Dublin, in 2000 and the following year completed a Higher Diploma in Art & Design Education.

Jenny's work has been included in a number of solo and group shows throughout Ireland including Form gallery, Cork, Dalkey Castle, Dublin and Gallery 44, Cork. She is a member of the Cork Textiles Network.
