Julie Beckett

Julie is a visual artist working in oil, watercolours, mixed media and more recently etching.

Inspired by the beautiful landscape of the Dingle Peninsula, where she has lived since the early nineties, Julie has developed a unique style of flower painting. Her constant exploration of different materials and resulting textured effect leads to a thoroughly evocative experience for the viewer, an immersion in nature.

Julie makes her etchings using a traditional and technical process using copper plates, rosin dust and acid. Another method employed is known as the drypoint technique, which she has used in her more recent etchings of Kinsale Shop fronts. Each print is then made by inking and printing the plate onto paper by hand on a press.

Having exhibited widely throughout Ireland and the UK Julie's work forms part of many national and international collections
