After graduating from NCAD, Dublin in 1984 Sara embarked on a career in graphic design in London, Australia and Ireland. Following some extensive travel in South East Asia she returned to Ireland and settled in West Cork where she completed a City & Guilds course in ceramics after which she was awarded a bursary. In 2003 she set up her own studio and now works as a full-time ceramicist.

According to Sara “Land, sea, sky and nature’s constantly changing patterns and hues are what inspire me.” Using texture and colour she captures the mood of a natural landscape using red earthenware and porcelain. Sara constantly experiments with ceramic colours, glazes and firing ranges to create new palettes. The result of her approach is a delicate and intricate expression of the West Cork coastline.
